Best Friends

Think back to when you were ten years old. Maybe you and your friends were always getting into mischief. One day you did something that you knew you were going to get into trouble for. And you were right. Your parents found out and you are in major trouble.

Your dad says, son, you know what you did was wrong and I’m going to have to punish you. So he gets out his belt and you bend over. You are tensed and set ready for the first blow and then you hear, whack!. Only you don’t feel anything. You turn around and unbeknownst to you your best friend has stepped in between you and your dad. He is bent over taking the punishment for you. You look at your dad and he smiles and says to you ‘what you did, your best friend has paid for. All is forgiven.’ This is what Jesus did for us on the cross. God poured out all His wrath on Jesus for the punishment of our sins. The debt we owed for the sins we have committed is paid for by Jesus on the cross.

There is a saying……God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. That is GRACE. God’s riches are our sins forgiven, spending eternity in Heaven with Him, no more tears, no more sickness, no more pain. At Christ’s expense……Jesus dying on the cross, taking the punishment we deserve so that we may be forgiven and go to Heaven.

God wants to forgive your sins, too.
